Gary Vergil Helmstetter Obituary

We are sad to announce that on October 8, 2023, at the age of 69, Gary Vergil Helmstetter of Doniphan, Missouri, born in Cumberland, Maryland passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Leo Vincent and Nola Kathleen Helmstetter (Garland); his wife Virginia "Jenny" Helmstetter (Jackson); his children, Thomas D. Smith (Penney) of Manchester, MD, Tammy M. Johnston (Les) of Alton, MO and Daniel S. Helmstetter (Alicia) of Palm Coast, FL; his siblings, Rebecca Helmstetter-Warren of Hyndman, PA, Terry Helmstetter (Pam) of Hancock, MD, Connie Jackson of Flintstone, MD, Roger Helmstetter (Carolyn) of Cumberland, MD, Wayne Helmstetter (Sue) of Cumberland, MD, Cindy Robinette (TR Flintstone, MD), Tim Helmstetter (Debbie) of Ridgeley, WV and Dale Helmstetter (Carol) of Little Orleans, MD; and his grandchildren, Logan, Gavin, Lilly Smith and Blake Helmstetter.

Gary resided at the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge in St. Louis, MO during his cancer treatments and requested in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gary's name to the ACSH Lodge in St. Louis.
