He was predeceased by: his parents, David Hyder and Flossie Irene Schoonover (Toney); his wife JoAnn Patton; his granddaughter Ashley Parkhurst; his son-in-law Clarke Perkins; his brother Don; his sister-in-law Norma South; and his niece Robin Bassett.
He is survived by: his children, Sherri Jayne, Sandy, Wendell Willis of Cainsville, Trudy Schoonover of Lamoni and Lyle Parkhurst of Eagleville, Missouri; his grandsons, Jason (KaSandra Perkins) and Justin (Breea Parkhurst); his great grandchildren, Ashton Perkins, Alivia, Colt Parkhurst and Gabriel Obermeier; his close friend Sheryl Boswell; and his nephews, David South and Floyd South.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home (103 NE Mill St, Leon, IA 50144). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at the Davis City Cemetery.
