He was predeceased by: his parents, George Dewey Borders and Nancy Oscille Fowler Borders; his spouse Jackie Beatrice Thurman; his close friend Dorothy Caroline Neal Moody; and his siblings, Dewey Marshall Borders, Lawrence Eugene "Larry" Borders, Thomas Russell Borders, Ella Louise Miller, Rosemary Pirtle and Eunice Hudson.

He is survived by: his daughter Jennifer; his son-in-law Duke Presson of East Prairie; and his siblings, Jim Borders of Paducah, KY, Frances Fox of Wichita Falls, TX and Shirley Rice of Wichita Falls, TX.
