It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Aters of East Prairie, Missouri, who passed away on September 8, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles August "Gus" Aters and Marie Johnson Aters; his wife Martha Lane Grissom; his brothers, R. J. Aters and Jimmy Aters; and his grandson Gage Mackenzie Aters.
He is survived by: his son Shawn; his daughter-in-law Rhonda Aters; his siblings, Floyd Aters, Paul Aters, Terry Aters, Ricky Aters, Alice Organ, Rosetta Branam, Shirley Johnson, Thelma Wasson and Penny Simpkins; his grandchildren, Addi Aters, Libby Cogdill, Katie Cobb (Josh), Daniel Cobb II (Autumn) and Kaylinn Cobb; and his great grandchildren, Isabella, Charlotte, Berkley, Owen Lorenson and Daniel Cobb III.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 15th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Shelby Funeral Home (104 W Olive St, East Prairie, MO 63845). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
