He was predeceased by: his parents, Percy Clyde Gilpin and Jessie Jewell McCarthy Gilpin (Olympia); his wife Nina Mae Eckard; his siblings, Virginia (Raymond Beydler), Wesley Gilpin (Jim), Marion (Buck), Reta Gilpin, Alice (Art Nikodim), Anita (Mel Leverich), Marie (Lendon Cochran), Lucille (Wayne Harrison), Maxine (Harold Shull), Virgil (Violet Eckard) and Welford (Dorothy Eckard); Ernest and Bertha Mae Eckard.

He is survived by: his daughters, Janolyn Mae (Gary McCandless) and Jacquelyn Kay (Curtis Dudley); his great grandchildren, Wyatt and Wesley; his caregiver Nina; his grandsons, Matthew McCandless (Cassie), Nathan Dudley, Brian McCandless (Lea) and Ronnie Owens (Mark); his sister-in-law Donna Leverich; Wyatt and Wesley McCandless. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the El Dorado Christian School and left with the funeral home.
