Though Dennis may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.

He was predeceased by: his mother Violet A. Martens (Hendrickson); and his wife Barryann Marie Loots. He is survived by: his father Andrew W. Martens; and his children, Timothy Loots of Kansas City, Thomas Loots of Kansas City, Kim Martens of Pella, Kathy Fields (Martens) of Washington and Mike Martens of Leawood, Kansas. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church or to the Lawson High School Robotics Club (care of the Martens family).
