He was predeceased by : his parents, Galen Shepherd and Freida Shepherd; his former life partner Josephine "Jo" Shepherd; his son Eli Shepherd; his sister Brenda Ottensmeyer; and his stepmother Mattie Shepherd.

He is survived by : his wife Maria Shepherd; his daughter Amber Gonz (Sam Washburn); and his sisters, Janet Drake (Mark) and Becky Meintz (Greg). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
