He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Clifford and Edith Ocie Bias (Rhodes); his daughter Dorothy "Dottie" Waller; and his siblings, Marjorie, Clara, William, Ethel, Patricia, Mary, Floyd, Bobby, Cloyd and Norma.
He is survived by: his wife Loretta; his children, Joseph Carl Bias, Jr. (Cheryl), Wanda Shiflett (Dean), Cathy Smith (Joey), Lisa Maupin (Joey) and Melissa "Missy" Shiflett; and his sister Thelma "T. J." Bias. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
