He was predeceased by: his parents, James "Jim" Eccardt and Margaret "Dot" Eccardt; and his sister-in-law Rose Eccardt. He is survived by: his wife Karen Eccardt; his children, William "Bill" Eccardt and Kristen Brewer (Joe); his grandchildren, Payton, Barrett and Belle Brewer; and his siblings, Curt Eccardt, Richard "Rick" Eccardt (Terri) and Karen Shaw. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.

As a remarkable act of generosity and part of his lasting legacy, Bill chose to donate his body to science through Washington University School of Medicine to support medical education and future advancements in research and patient care.
