He is survived by: his daughter Jamie Barton; his son-in-law Chris Barton; his son Jason Bales; his daughter-in-law Jessica Bales; his stepdaughter Emily (Chris); his great-niece Emilee (Chad Clark); his siblings, Madonna Davis and Dick Bales; and his sister-in-law Connie Bales. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Doug was a member of the Esther Methodist Church in Park Hills, and he was a devoted and active member of the Elvins Ionic Lodge No. 154, for many years, where he valued the principles of brotherhood, charity and service.
