It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kay Vaughan in Freeman, Missouri, who passed away on June 15, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Kay Vaughan to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl W. Chapman and Martha DeGan Chapman. She is survived by: her husband Bruce Allen Vaughan Jr.; her children, Martha "Marti" Sewester (Bill) of Wichita, Kansas, Allen Vaughan (Joy) of Newport and Suzanne Vaughan (Jay Goff) of Washington, D. C.; her grandchildren, Kathryne Sewester of Oahu, Hawaii, Hannah Sewester (Alex Lechtenberg) of Phoenix, Arizona, Timothy Vaughan of Los Angeles, Joshua Vaughan of Murrieta California, Mia Goff of Alexandria, Virginia and Vaughan Goff of Washington, DC.; and her sister Carol Chapman Taylor of Prairie Village.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Knell Mortuary (308 W Chestnut St, Carthage, MO 64836). A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church - Carthage (617 S Main St, Carthage, MO 64836).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Carthage R-9 School Foundation for the Fine and Performing Arts Center or the Scholarship Program, in care of Knell Mortuary.
