He was predeceased by : his parents, William B. Schmitz and Frances Alberta Schmitz (Walendorf); his siblings, David Schmitz, MaryAnn Thielbar, Linda Schmitz and Loretta Schmitz; and his siblings-in-law, Wayne Thielbar, Dennis King, Magdelene Schmitz, Irene Schmitz and Judy Schmitz.
He is survived by : his wife Mary; his daughter Lisa Hand (Matthew); his grandchildren, Joshua Adam Tharp (Jennifer), Jules Elizabeth Hand and Claudia Frances Annie Hand; and his siblings, Fred Schmitz, Thomas Schmitz, James Schmitz (Gail) and Teresa King. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
