He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl James and Gladys Compton (Lawson); his wife Terralee Compton; his grandchildren, Tyler Jordan Harris and Lane Lynn Compton; and his brother Earl "Eddie" Dewey Compton.

He is survived by: his children, Michael David Compton (Patricia) of Georgetown, Texas, Michele Lynn Compton Conard of Pittsburg, Texas and Jessica Luckey Compton (Justin) of Gallatin, Missouri; his grandchildren, Dylan Conard, Kylee Conard, Laken Ussery (Brendon), Colton Bergman, Destiny Cox and Dylan Ricky Johnson; his great grandchild Otis "Oti" Ussery; his sister Deborah "Deb" Keister (Compton) of Crane Hill, Alabama; and his pet Sissy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Cameron Veterans Home, in care of the funeral home.
