He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ralph and Dorothy Murphy (Goucher); and his siblings, Jean Stolee, Mary Updegraff, George and Bob Murphy.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Ann Siewert; his children, Larry Murphy (Ginger), Dennis Murphy, Billy Murphy, Connie Murphy (Larry Schubert), Michael Murphy (Carla) and Dale Murphy (Annette); and his siblings-in-law, Margot Murphy, Twila Murphy and John Stolee. He is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
