He was predeceased by : his parents, John Henry Cotten and Callie Mae Baker Cotten; and his wife Estelle Fay Burgess. He is survived by : his children, Chris Cotten of Glasgow, Jenny Walters (Steve) of Fuquay-Varina, Melvin Henry Cotten, Jr. of Tennessee, Angela Furneaux (Hugh) of Glasgow and Micheal Cotten of New Franklin; his sister Shelia Cotten (James Duncan) of Clemson; and his niece Callen Duncan. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren.
