He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Jacob and Dolores Hartenbower Jacob; and his brother Larry Dean Jacob. He is survived by: his wife Kay Jacob; his children, Nick Jacob (Ann), Dustin Jacob (Dell) and Amanda Herman (Doug) of Emporia; his grandchildren, Abigail Jacob, Nolan Jacob, Reagan Herrman, Taylor Herrman, Avery Jacob and Ella Jacob; and his siblings, Lance Jacob of Burlington and Lena Jacob of Little Rock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Emporia Soccer Academy or East Mockingbird Dock Association, two organizations that Gene cared deeply about.
