He was predeceased by: his parents, George Greer Murphy and Willow Mai Murphy; and his siblings, George Murphy, Marge Grounds and Rita Murphy.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Murphy (Hollaman); and his children, Randy Murphy (Lynnell) of Corpus Christi, TX, Scott Murphy of Plano, TX, Tim Murphy (Margie) of Bastrop, TX, DeAnna Burghart (Mike) of Aliso Viejo, CA and Deborah Tharp (Don) of Ector, TX. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
