James Spiers Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Spiers (Grant City, Missouri), born in Kansas City, Missouri, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 10, 2025 at the age of 62. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Billy Ross and Gwendola Spiers (Daniel); his siblings, Carla Coulter, Phillip Spiers and Kimberly Wilson; his sister-in-law Denise Counsell; his siblings' children, Cole Counsell and Melissa Spiers; his parents-in-law, Gene and JoAnn Squier; and his great-nephew Tristan Hulett.
He is survived by: his daughter Merrideth Spiers; his wife Merry Counsell; his uncles, Max Spiers and J. C. Youngs; his siblings-in-law, Don Counsell (Shelly), Deanna Counsell (Mark) and Heather Rysavy (Pete); and his sibling's children, Angelique Skeries, Jason Newman, Sarah Malcolm, Megan Hulett, Rheannon Carnagey, Derek Counsell, Logan Rysavy and Grayson Rysavy. He is also survived by many cousins and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home (200 S Front St, Grant City, MO 64456). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at the Grant City Cemetery.
