He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel O'Brien and Madeline O'Brien-Matthews (Levart); his stepfather Henry Matthews; his brothers, Bill Beckett and Jessie Beckett; and his granddaughter Morgan O'Brien.

He is survived by: his wife Melissa O'Brien; his children, Sam O'Brien (Laurie) of Poplar Bluff, Denise Woodard of Poplar Bluff, Tiffany O'Brien of Poplar Bluff and Sarah Schrader (Terry) of Silva; his sisters, Donna Bush of Cedar Hill, Charlene Kaminski (Jim) of House Springs and Theresa Louzader of Washington; and his grandchildren, Briana Bennett (Eric), Madison Woodard (Mason), Camren Schrader, Casey Schrader, Cody Robbins and Amber Robbins (Brian). He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
