We announce the death of John Elton Yancey (Hannibal, Missouri), who passed away on June 25, 2026, at the age of 94. John Elton will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Robert and Zelma Elizabeth Yancey (Barron); his siblings, William Earl, Elmer Lee, Martha Christina Phelps, Mary Dell and James Evan; and his wife Temple.
He is survived by: his sister Shirley Childs of Frankfort, Kentucky.; and his children, Tim Yancey (Jeannie) of St. Louis, Jana Emory (Bryan) of Nixa, Gretchen Yancey (Jim Evans) of Columbia and Gabrielle Pruett (Josiah) of Hannibal. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends.
Those wishing to honor John's memory might consider taking someone to register to vote, giving a voter a ride to the polls, wearing something wonderfully patriotic on the Fourth of July, or making a donation to Missouri Democrat Days or 2 Rivers Industries, Inc. (formerly NEMO Sheltered Workshop).
