He was predeceased by: his parents, William Sloan and Mary Belle Stephens (Potts); his wife Velma Frances Lawson; and his son-in-law Tony. He is survived by: his children, Donna Stephens (late Tony), Dianne Saffels (Rick), Debra Elarton (Jerry) and Doug Stephens; and his grandchildren, Stacy Honigman (Mark), Stephanie Goss (Jeff), Sabrina Brink (Jason), Chris Stephens (Marie) and Alex Stephens (Maddie). He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Atkinson Funeral Home (600 W Wall St, Harrisonville, MO 64701). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
