With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Walter W. Bruens of Harrisonville, Missouri, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Walter left this world on May 28, 2025 at the age of 96, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter William Bruens and Dorothy Johanna Bruens (Vollertsen); his wife Nancy Bruens (Elder); and his sisters, Eileen Gawer and Marion Kuhn.
He is survived by: his sons, Steve Bruens (Sylvia) of Huntsville, Alabama and Jeff Bruens (Lori) of Harrisonville, MO; his grandchildren, Paul Bruens of Nashville, TN, James Bruens (Lindsey) of Huntsville, AL, Kate Bruens of Kansas City, MO, Grace Bales (Dylan) of Archie, MO and Crystal (Baylor Mead) of Butler, MO; his great grandchildren, Vivian Bales, Hattie Bruens, Sylvia Bales and Henry Bruens; and his nieces, Tammy Hertz of Denver, CO, Elizabeth Kuhn, Laura Kuhn of Charlottesville, VA, Sharon Gawer of Owensville, MO and Susan Gawer of Arkansas.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Harrisonville United Methodist Church (2600 E Mechanic St, Harrisonville, MO 64701). A masonic service will be held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the Bruens family requests that donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, Harrisonville United Methodist Church, or Cass County Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund.
