He was predeceased by : his parents, Virgil L. Barton and Wanda N. Barton (German); his sisters, Kay and Deloris; his wife Linda Kay Meyers (Steelman); and his grandson Eric.

He is survived by : his former life partner Lois Cook; his children, Jeffrey Barton (Courtney), Regina Gregorie, Jason Hill, Lori Summers (Charlie), Joe Meyers (Jaylynn), Vena Meyers, Elizabeth Brashers (Justin) and Christina Jenkins (Brian); his brother Wilbert Barton (Judy); his grandchildren, Madison, Zeb, Lincoln Barton, JJ, Desa, Maisyn, Weston Gregorie, Skyler, Hayden, Baby Charlie Summers, Jaylee Meyers, Mason Farrow, Gabe, Parker, Andrew Shoults, Samantha, Abby Meyers, Wyatt, Luke and Tyler Jenkins; and his great grandchildren, Paityn, Tailyn Wilhelm and Preston Rhodes.
