With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John William Nelson of Hayti, Missouri, born in Caruthersville, Missouri, who passed away on July 22, 2025 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, T. R. Nelson and Mary Mecham Nelson; and his brothers, Frank Lee Nelson and Michael Ray Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Corkey Nelson of Caruthersville, Missouri; his children, Jackie Spear (David) of Collierville, Dawn Bush (Brent) of Collierville, Tennessee and John William Nelson II of Elberta, Alabama; his grandchildren, Jay Spear, Courtney Kerby (Clarke), Carlye Taylor and Whitney Bailey (Marshall); his great grandchildren, Lillian, Abigail, Madelyn, Addi Claire, Ellie Kathryn, Jack, Zoey and Leif; and his niece Wendi Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Church of God (1100 Carleton Ave, Caruthersville, MO 63830). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at the Maple Cemetery (Caruthersville, MO 63830).
