He was predeceased by: his father Herbert Albert Nelson, Sr.; his former wife Eunice Nelson; his mother Mary Simmons (George Simmons); and his grandson Jeremiah Cox. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Nelson (Ingram); his daughters, Lana Nelson-Montgomery of Florida and Paula Cox (Alvin) of Tonganoxie, KS.; his grandchildren, Steven O. Nelson, Emily Nelson, Cory Everidge, Tyler Nelson, Marsha Wise (Jerry), Alvin Cox, III (Marisa), Brandon Cox, Amber Cox and Jessica Medina (Manny); and his great grandchildren, William, Zada, Casen, Cohen, Cooper, Haiden, Lillian and Sariah.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Elm Grove Baptist Church (15774 Linwood Rd, Bonner Springs, KS 66012). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at the Bonner Springs Cemetery (801 Sheidley Ave, Bonner Springs, KS 66012).
