He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles "Hoppy" Edward and Gladys Naomi Updegraff (Neely); his brother William E. Updegraff; and his brother-in-law Larry Heidbreder. He is survived by: his wife Judy; his son Richard Updegraff (Andrea) of Lee's Summit; his grandchildren, Michael Updegraff of Wisconsin and Anita Highland (Andrew) of Indiana; and his great grandchildren, Ava and Evelyn Highland of Indiana.
