He was predeceased by: his parents, Mildred Elizabeth Boessen (Schulte) and Henry Boessen; his son Robert Boessen, Jr. (Joey); and his siblings, Allan Boessen, Allene Howser and Genarose Hohertz.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Lee Boessen; his children, Michael Boessen (Brenda) and Vicki Turnbow (Kris); the mother of his children Mary Cox; his children, Cindy Helton, Rick Schlueter (Sharon) and Russ Schlueter; his siblings, Joseph Boessen (Ann), Stanley Boessen (Cake), Eugene Boessen (Cheryl), Sister Rosemary Boessen, Henrietta Gentges and MaryLynn Marr (Dave); and his sister-in-law Kathy Boessen. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Special Learning Center in Jefferson City.
