She was predeceased by: her husband Howard Nelson; and her son Dewayne Lee Nelson. She is survived by: her siblings, James Willis, Mary Holt, Ethel Cooper, Lillie Karnes, Annie Conaway and Eunice Cooper. She is also survived by six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
She donated time, cooking, and other charitable endeavors to the parish members, who were like a second family.
