He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Junior Mitchell and Thelma June Chambers; his brothers, Danny Mitchell, Paul Mitchell, Stanley Mitchell and Fred Mitchell; and his siblings-in-law, Glen Stephens, Eva Mitchell and Patty Mitchell.

He is survived by: his wife Dianna Stephens; his children, Jason Mitchell (Tina) of Shelbina and Erin Gill (Michael) of Shelbina; his grandchildren, Lancing Moore, Somer Gill, Hudson Gill and Landry Gill; his siblings, Mike Mitchell (Diane) of Greenville, Brad Mitchell of O'Fallon, Jeff Mitchell (Eislinn) of Deland and Pam Pritchard (Paul) of Macon, Missouri; and his siblings-in-law, John Stephens and Em Beals. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
