He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Slaughter and Opal Slaughter (Thorn); his wife Vera; his stepfathers, Irvan Evans and Christopher Johnson; and his brother Charles Slaughter.

He is survived by: his son Dean Slaughter (Sheila) of Blue Springs, MO; his grandsons, Justin Slaughter (Kim) and Arthur Cole Slaughter; and his great grandchildren, Emma Slaughter and Amelia Slaughter.
