Donald Lee Underwood Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Lee Underwood (Independence, Missouri), who passed away on July 26, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Cynthia Underwood; his wife Betty Underwood; his brother Raymond Underwood Jr.; and his father Raymond Sr. Underwood. He is survived by: his brother George Underwood; his daughters, Gail Porter (David), Barb Simon (Joe), Linda Chapman (Dale), Patricia Underwood-Baker and Denise Duncan (Brett); his grandchildren, Corey Chapman, Spenser Simon, Seth Duncan, Chelsea Wilkins (Ryan), Colton Chapman, Samuel Baker (Cheyenne Golden) and Jameson Baker; and his great grandchildren, Haven Blankenship-Duncan, Willow Chapman, Liam, Layton, Levy, Luca Wilkins, Maverick and Ashton Baker. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel (509 S Noland Rd, Independence, MO 64050). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary Parish (600 N Liberty St, Independence, MO 64050).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Don's memory by extending a generous act of kindness or mentorship to someone in need—just as he did throughout his life. Donations may also be made in his honor to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Network.
