He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Matthews and Eula Matthews; and his sister Bev Shepherd. He is survived by: his daughter Kelly Matthews; his brother Don Matthews (Pat); his stepdaughters, Kim Hawley (Doug) and Jill Gordon (Brett); and his grandchildren, Isabella Matthews, Ethan Matthews-David, Claire Hawley (Jake), Brian Gordon, Faith Hawley (Patrick) and Matthew Gordon (Samantha). He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a local hospice organization.
