It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janet Maxine Goehner of Independence, Missouri, who passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Janet departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Janet may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Janet leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Emmett Hurd and Avis Hurd (Wentworth); and her husband Kenneth Goehner. She is survived by: her daughters, Deanna Reynolds (Rick) of Independence and Susan Tate (Ben) of Independence; and her grandchildren, Robert Reynolds (Melannie) of Blue Springs, MO, Jeff Reynolds (Jessica) of Lee's Summit, MO, Linley Tate-Ioanis of Buckner, MO and Justin Tate of Independence, MO. She is also survived by five great-granddaughters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Glendale Restoration Branch (17803 E Susquehanna Ridge, Independence, MO 64056). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
