He was predeceased by: his son Jeffrey Todd Spies; and his parents, Maurice Spies and Mildred Spies. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Spies; his children, Lisa Wilson (Ron), Joel Spies (Julie) and Susie Hall (Cliff); and his grandchildren, Jourdan Bentley, Mackenzie Bentley (Jill), Trent Spies (Gabi), Nichela Urbanciz (Danny), Elizabeth Shipley, Jacob Spies, Jessica Spies and Claire.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City or the Mayo Clinic.
