It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Johnnie J. Smith of Independence, Missouri, born in Butler, Missouri, who passed away on February 19, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John O. Smith and Clara E. Smith (Thomas); and his siblings, Helen Van Eaton, Ethel Swayla, Irene Smading of George Smith, J. B and Shirley Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Evon Moore of Independence; his children, Vickie Broggi (Bill) of Independence, John Smith (Julie) of Greenwood, Kathie Morse (Robert) of Holden and Troy Smith (Melissa) of Independence; his grandchildren, Madison Broggi, Gabi Fizer (Ben), Austin Smith, Anna Haffner (Robbie), Brad Smith (Taylor), Sam Smith, Falon Smith, Dylan Thomas (Jessica), Sky Vaughn (Josh) and Steele Smith; his great grandchildren, Remington, Henry, Heidi, Jack, Lucy, Presley, Quincy, Orville, Opal, Ophelia, Jayce, Caroline and Eveah; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Moore and Loraine Smith. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
