He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter "Buck" Marion Butler and Alta Marie Butler (Hicks); his brother Richard "Moss" Butler; and his parents-in-law, James and Anne Hamilton (Raines).
He is survived by: his wife Janet Ann Butler (Hamilton); his daughters, Anne Proctor (Dennis) and Amy Miller (Steve); his sisters, Carole Embley (David) and Jayne Copeland (Steve); his grandchildren, Katie Barrett (Cody), Lacy Wise (Daniel Colliver), Steven Miller (Mariah), Devin Proctor, Abygale Miller and Garrett Miller (MacKenzie); and his great grandchildren, Abrielle, McKinlee, Jace, Archer, Emersyn and Addyson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Speaks Suburban Chapel (18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO 64055). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the South Point Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) or the Fisher House Foundation. Consider a donation, as requested by the family.
