He was predeceased by: his parents, E. D. Gilley and Bonnie Gilley; his brothers, Carl Gilley and Gary Gilley; his sister-in-law Deborah Gilley (Owens); his nephew Slade Gilley; and his sister Clara Harrison.

He is survived by: his wife Ginny; his sons, Bill Scott Gilley and Jim Wayne Gilley; his adoptive daughter Megan Gilley; and his siblings, Jake Gilley, Rocky Gilley, Rosie Hudson (Gilley), JoAnn Taylor (Gilley), Peggy Starr (Gilley), Pat Fletcher (Gilley) and Darlene Etter (Gilley). He is also survived by his stepsons, stepdaughter, numerous step grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
