He was predeceased by: his parents, Linus Abernathy and Bertha Hermina Voges Abernathy; and his brother Leroy Abernathy. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Abernathy of Jackson; his daughters, Cindy Bromley (Jim) of Jackson, Pam Brown of Jackson and Laurie Hency (Jake) of Fruitland; his grandson Justin Bromley (Keisha); his great grandchildren, Justin Jr. and Jamie of Burfordville; his grandchild Kaci Brown; his great grandchildren, Destiny, Savannah, Dalasia and Aniyah of Cape Girardeau; his grandson Tyler Bromley; his great grandchild Richard of Jackson; his grandson Austin Abernathy; his son Kenny (Dustin "Tater" Cook) of Jackson; his sister Arlene Gaines of Poplar Bluff; and his sister-in-law Pat Abernathy of Jackson.
Viewing was held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the McCombs Funeral Home & Cremation Center (640 W Independence St, Jackson, MO 63755). A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Russell Heights Cemetery (435 S Farmington Rd, Jackson, MO 63755).
