He was predeceased by: his parents, Lane Abernathy and Wayve Abernathy (Chrisman); and his brother Ronald Abernathy. He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his son Matthew Abernathy (Nancy) of California, MO; his grandsons, Matthew Abernathy of California, MO and Mason Abernathy of California, MO; and his sister Deborah Rosenfeld (John) of Ketchikan, AK.
The family suggests memorials to the Long Branch Area YMCA or the Macon Gospel Center.
