He was predeceased by : his parents, Elmer Whittler and Lois Childs Whittler; and his brothers, Richard Childs and John Whittler. He is survived by : his siblings, Patricia Serafin (Roy) of Wheatland Wyoming, Roger Whittler (Karen) of Springfield, Alivia Bamber and Don Whittler of Jefferson City, Missouri.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy be made to the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI).
