He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Louise Gibson (Webb) and Harold Louise; his grandson Mitchell Gibson; and his brothers-in-law, Donald Smarr and Harry "Bud" Moore.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ann Hartman; his children, Mark Gibson (Kathy) of Austin and Beth Wright (Kevin) of Leawood; his sisters, Martha Smarr of Warrensburg and Ellen Moore of Bangor; his brother-in-law Rudy Hartman of Chester; his grandchildren, Matthew Gibson (Leah), Megan Henwood (Matt), Michael Gibson (Brittany), Meyer Gibson, Mary Cavell (Tim) and Madeline Gibson; and his great grandchildren, Henry, Sam, Jack, Luke Gibson, Ellie, Sarah, Julia Gibson and Graham Cavell. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and members of his extended family.
