He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolph Sauer and Freida Sauer (Stroessner); his wife Lela Mae Knernschield; his in-laws, George and Lydia Knernschield (Horak); his sister Corine Hilke; and his siblings-in-law, Everett Knernschield, Edward Knernschield, Elroy Knernschield, Marvin Knernschield, Gus Eicholz, Conrad Hilke, Martha Fry, Florence Eicholz, Selma Knernschield, Irlene McDonald and Betty Fry.
He is survived by: his children, Dan Sauer (JoAnn) and Linda Fennessey (Thomas); his granddaughters, Katie Sauer, Jessica Sauer, Clarissa Fennessey and Taryn Fennessey; his great grandchild Henry Hawkins; and his siblings-in-law, Arthur Fry and Jean Knernschield. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church building fund.
