He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Smith and Lily Maud Smith; his wife LaJean Smith; his great grandchild Rozlyn Greene; and his brother Lester Floyd "Smitty" Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Jeanie Gorham (Gerald) of Gadsden, Mel Smith of Gadsden and Carrie Ann Wakefield (Roy) of Joplin, Missouri.. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
