He was predeceased by : his parents, Alvie Ammons and Florence Ammons; his wife Beverly Ammons; his siblings, Forrest Ammons, Lois Lau, Robert Ammons, Ronald Ammons and Mary Lou Sutherlin; and his stepsons, Michael and Randy Thiel.

He is survived by : his children, Darrel Ammons Jr. (LeeAnn) of Kelso, WA, Becky Hodges and Wendy Miner (Chuck) of Des Moines, IA.. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
