He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Brixey and Emma Brixey (Nizzia). He is survived by: his wife Mary Gillespie Brixey of Joplin; his children, Michael McKee, Matthew McKee, Corey Brixey, Stacy Larson and Michelle McKee; his grandchildren, Felicia, Kelsey, Michael, Anthony, Emily, Kinslee and Dakota; and his sister Camilla Hertz (George).

A memorial service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Parker Mortuary & Crematory (1502 S McKinley Ave, Joplin, MO 64804). A reception was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Zinc Coffee House Event Center (1825 S Main St, Joplin, MO 64804).
