Don Short Obituary
We bid farewell to Don Short of Joplin, Missouri, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on June 21, 2025 at the age of 89. Don touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. Though Don may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Don touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Rube Short and Vida Short. He is survived by: his wife Sue; his daughter Donna Sue Simmons (Woody); his granddaughter Jessica Dawn Edwards (Jesse); his son-in-law Glenn Stephens; and his sister Kay Cantrell.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary (602 S Byers Ave, Joplin, MO 64801). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Forest Park Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in honor of Don to Gideons International or other charities of choice.
