He was predeceased by: his parents, William B. Van Mater and Hedwig Van Mater (Ludeman); and his wife Mary Lou Pennington. He is survived by: his sons, Steven Wayne Van Mater (Pamela) of St. Louis and Gary E. Van Mater of Carthage, Missouri; and his grandchildren, Jaime Olivia Stro (Jarett), Julie Hartman (Chris), Andy Van Mater (Rauleen), Amy Van Mater and John Van Mater (Amanda). He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
