John Rains Obituary
We are sad to announce that, on May 28, 2026, at the age of 85, John Rains of Joplin, Missouri passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact John had on those he encountered along his journey. Though John may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
He was predeceased by: his parents, W. L. Rains and Imogene Rains (Shelton); his son Mark Rains; and his brother Howard McCollough. He is survived by: his daughter Missy Rains of Joplin; his daughter-in-law Edwina Rains of Joplin; his sister Mary Jo Thompson of Texas; and his close friend Helen Hickman of Joplin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Senior Center in care of the mortuary.
