In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Melvin leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Melvin may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his mother Phyllis Carroll (Larson); and his stepfather Guy Carroll. He is survived by: his father Melvin R. Bowman, Sr. of Oklahoma City, OK; his sons, Melvin R. Bowman, III (Hailey) of Carthage and Michael Bowman of Joplin; the mother of his children Tina Bowman of Joplin; his sisters, Debra Davison of Oklahoma City, Sharon Snow (Mark) of Springfield, MO and Marsha Shelton (Terry) of Springfield; and his half-brother Matthew Bowman of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews as well as many extended family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Parker Mortuary Chapel (1502 S Joplin Ave, Joplin, MO 64804). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 at 8:00 PM at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
