He was predeceased by: his son Rusty Smith; and his parents, Dr. Russell Smith and Ethel Smith. He is survived by: his wife Stephanie Gail Heller; his children, Shana Smith Peters and Myca Smith Stahl (Robert); and his grandchildren, Russell Blake Peters, Ian Tyler Peters, Isabella "Izzy" Mae Stahl and Robert "RJ" Gilbert Stahl.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made out to Temple Shalom at 4630 Pine Ridge Road Naples, FL 34116.
